Designer
Paul trained in theatre design at Wimbledon School of Art and has designed extensively in the West End, around the UK and internationally.
His designs include The Producers (costumes) transferring to the West End later in 2025, The Third Man, Pacific Overtures, The Boyfriend, Pack of LIes and Barnham all Menier Chocolate Factory, Hairspray at Kilworth House, The Hundred Year Old Man in Sweden and Matilda in Finland. His other recent work includes Mamma Mia! in Antwerp, Miss Saigon, The Producers, Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof and Dance of the Vampires at Det Ny Teater in Copenhagen, Assassins in Norway, and
Paul’s extensive list of credits in London and the West End include the European premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s Passion (Queen’s Theatre - Olivier Award nomination for Best Set Design), Follies (Royal Festival Hall), Lend Me A Tenor - the musical (Gielgud & also Theatre Royal, Plymouth), Shall We Dance with Adam Cooper (Sadler’s Wells), She Loves Me, Candide, Charley’s Aunt and Smash (all Menier Chocolate Factory). His other designs include The Way of the World (Chichester Festival Theatre), Annie Get Your Gun, Jekyll and Hyde, Anything Goes, Billy Elliott, Evita, Love Never Dies, Wicked, Hay Fever, A Flea in Her Ear, Peter Pan, My Fair Lady (all Det Ny Teater, Copenhagen), Jesus Christ Superstar (Bill Kenwright Ltd - UK and European tours), Doctor in the House (national tour), Entertaining Angels, Lloyd George Knew My Father and Relatively Speaking (all Theatre Royal Bath), Noises Off (Birmingham Rep), and Half a Sixpence, Dr Doolittle and Flashdance - the musical (all UK tours).
Paul has designed over twenty productions for Chichester Festival Theatre, as well as On Your Toes, The Taming of The Shrew, Sweeney Todd, A Woman of No Importance, Into the Woods, Hedda Gabler, A Little Night Music, Edna - The Spectacle (all Haymarket, Leicester), The Merchant of Venice (English Shakespeare Company), My Father's House, The Lady in the Van, The Wind in the Willows (all Birmingham Rep), Make Way for Lucia (Theatre of Comedy) and Transit of Venus and A Warwickshire Testimony (both Royal Shakespeare Company).
